(The Remains of the Day),

Maqolada zamonaviy ingliz nasrida subyektiv vaqt va narrativ buzilishlar travmatik, hissiy hamda refleksiv tajribalarni ifodalashning o‘zaro bog‘liq usullari sifatida o‘rganiladi. Ian McEwanning Atonement, Kazuo Ishiguroning The Remains of the Day, Julian Barnesning The Sense of an Ending va Martin Amisning Time’s Arrow asarlari asosida xronologik izchillikning buzilishi, voqealarning retrospektiv qayta tiklanishi, narrativ bayonning tezlashishi va sekinlashishi, takrorlash, ellipsis, voqea sodir bo‘lgan vaqt bilan uning hikoya qilinishi o‘rtasidagi masofa hamda xotiraning beqarorligi tahlil qilinadi. Maqolada subyektiv vaqt shunchaki formal narrativ vosita emasligi, balki qahramon yoki hikoyachining o‘tmishni qanday talqin qilishi, muayyan voqealarni bostirishi, avvalgi qarorlarini qayta baholashi va shaxsiy tarixining uzluksizligini tiklashga intilishi bilan chambarchas bog‘liqligi asoslanadi. Shu nuqtayi nazardan, narrativ buzilishlar oddiy xato yoki yolg‘on sifatida emas, balki cheklangan nuqtayi nazar va tanlab eslash jarayonining natijasi sifatida talqin etiladi. Tadqiqotda vaqtning deformatsiyalanishi, travmatik xotira va narrativ qayta qurish o‘rtasidagi munosabatga alohida e’tibor qaratiladi.

Abstract

The article examines subjective time and narrative distortion as interrelated modes of representing traumatic, emotional, and reflective experience in contemporary English prose. Drawing on Ian McEwan’s Atonement, Kazuo Ishiguro’s The Remains of the Day, Julian Barnes’s The Sense of an Ending, and Martin Amis’s Time’s Arrow, the study analyses disruptions of chronology, retrospective reconstruction, narrative acceleration and deceleration, repetition, ellipsis, the temporal distance between an event and the act of narration, and the instability of memory. The article argues that subjective time is not merely a formal narrative device: it is closely connected with the ways in which a character or narrator interprets the past, suppresses particular events, reassesses previous decisions, and attempts to restore continuity to personal history. Narrative distortion is therefore understood not simply as an error or lie, but as a consequence of limited perspective and selective memory. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between temporal deformation, traumatic memory, and narrative reconstruction.
